Maggz has addressed recent discussions surrounding his appearance on Four Horsemen, the collaborative track by Stogie T featuring Nasty C and A-Reece from Stogie T’s latest album ANOMY. His comments were shared during a recent episode of Post & The Diary Room, where he responded to ongoing debate about why he was included on the song.
The conversation emerged after some listeners questioned whether Four Horsemen should have featured only Nasty C and A-Reece. Maggz acknowledged the sentiment from a portion of the audience, explaining that he was aware of the perspective circulating online. He noted that listeners had expressed a desire to hear a track led solely by the two younger rappers, without additional contributors.
Maggz stated, “I understand the sentiment that people wanted to hear A-Reece and Nasty C alone doing their thing with no distraction or whatever. But that was not the intention of the song.” He added that the structure and concept of Four Horsemen were determined by Stogie T, who envisioned the collaborative lineup.
He continued by explaining that Nasty C and A-Reece were fully capable of creating a track together independently. Maggz said, “Obviously, they are both adults, they could do that on their own if they felt it was for them. But this was more for Stogie.”
During the interview, Maggz emphasised Stogie T’s long-standing role in South African hip hop and described him as an influential figure for multiple generations of artists. He explained, “Stogie is an OG to all of us, not only just them but also to me. This is one of the pioneers in the game, someone I hold up high. So when he calls, you have got to heed the call.”
Maggz also reflected on the impact Four Horsemen has had since its release. He shared that he had recently been informed about the song’s streaming performance, noting that he had not expected the scale of the response. He recalled, “I’m just glad that it took such a shape and it became such a monster. Like today, my homie was telling me the numbers, I couldn’t believe it.”
According to Maggz, the track has achieved record-setting performance. He said, “Like the most-streamed song in South African hip hop history ever. Number 2 most-streamed song on Spotify ever in South Africa, like that’s including your Drake, that’s including your Pianos.”
Reflecting on his involvement, Maggz expressed appreciation for the artists on the track and gratitude for being included by Stogie T. He concluded, “So that’s how much of an impact this song made. It’s an honour to be part of it and I respect everyone on that song. I just think they’re all exceptional rappers and also shoutout to Stogie for having me on it.”
